Members of the IUCN Asia Regional Committee are due to meet in October

IUCN (October 2 2009) - The next meeting of the Asia Regional Committee of IUCN (International Union on the Conservation of Nature) members is scheduled to be held in Gyeongju City of Republic of Korea from October 7–8, 2009.

The meeting is being hosted by Professor Youngbae Suh who is the Chair of the Committee, while other members that are expected to attend include: chairs of the National Committees in Asia region, representatives from member organizations where the National Committees do not exist, Vice President and Regional Councillors.

Key issues to be discussed among various other matters will include discussion on implementation of the IUCN Intersessional Programme, finalisation of bylaws of the Regional Committee and its roles and responsibilities and discussion on the next Regional Conservation Forum of IUCN Asia.
